“Who is going to pay for it”? These are the last words of dying patients as they grasp for air while being placed on a ventilator. This is what the “beacon of hope" & "city upon a hill” has to offer during one of the worst pandemics to its most vulnerable citizens.
Despite 23 trillion dollar GDP per year, budget slashes for countless programs that help the poor and venerable, a dysfunctional and predatory healthcare system that gangs up against the sick and disabled, millions of Americans living from paycheck to paycheck, racial and socioeconomic inequality, and the top-down failure at every step of the ladder – no one in the mainstream media is addressing how American people are ignored at every important junction.
During the coronavirus pandemic, unemployment has increased by 2,500%, more than 47 million Americans are at the risk of losing their job, and more than 35 Million Americans could lose their health insurance, while Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world adds another $24 billion to his net worth during the pandemic. In fact, the world’s eight richest people have as much wealth as bottom half. This division and wealth gap stands at the heart of the American Injustice.
According to an article by Forbes, while the rest of us get $1,200 stimulus checks under Coronavirus Aid Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, 43,000 rich Americans with earnings more than $1 million annually, will receive $1.7 million or more in tax cuts, thanks to a provision buried in CAREAct by the Trump administration in an attempt to enrich his wealthy friends and criminal family. It’s a disgrace that 82% of CareAct benefit goes to the top 1% of Americans making more than one million dollars a year, while most Americans have to worry about unemployment and the cost of healthcare while dying from coronavirus.
The obscene wealth gained by corporate elites, their refusal to pay their fair-share of taxes, and their unchecked political and legal power has dismantled our democratic institutions. In fact, Jeff Bezos spends more on his mansions like the one he recently bought at Beverly Hills than Amazon pays in federal corporate income tax for 2019.
The elites have achieved complete control of our legal and political system, they have bought government seats through campaign contributions and lobbying and during the worst health and financial crisis since the Great Depression are receiving tax incentives and bailouts with taxpayers’ money.
These corporate elites and oligarchs care about nothing and no one, but their own personal gain and self-advancement. These narcissistic sociopaths have no remorse or empathy for anyone, despite the fact that 7 million Americans live on the streets and 800,000 children in US are homeless.
These self-absorbed narcissists and con-artists sacrifice nothing for our society and offer no benefits while their criminal behavior is rarely punished.
The corporate elites have been empowered to plunge our nation into economic and social disaster, while consolidating their own wealth and power. They have aggressively pushed for policies in order to criminalize poverty and the result has been a catastrophe for our society turning it to an abyss. No wonder why we have one of the highest numbers of childhood poverty, mental illnesses, opioid addiction, obesity, mass shootings, and hate crimes in the industrialized world. For the first time in nearly two decades there has been no school mass shooting in March because of the lock down. Imagine we have to lock down the entire country in order to stop our kids from getting shot, how sick is that?
These power-hungry sociopaths treat our communities, families, schools, children, planet and resources as their commodity, being disposable and dispensable.
While climate reports indicate the Great Barrier Reef is mass bleaching and glaciers are melting in an alarming rate, the energy industrial elites has it for our planet by refusing to cut their carbon emissions and take serious steps to move away from fossil fuels and fracking. According to a recent UN report, our planet is declining at an “unprecedented” rate while one million plant and animal species are at the risk of extinction. Instead of taxing these toxic producing corporations all the way to their teeth and investing in renewable energy, the Trump administration is bailing out big beautiful coal and nuclear power plants because they make huge profits at the expense of ruining our planet and health.
The failure of our government to invest in our fragile and broken healthcare system so far has resulted in more than 700,000 coronavirus cases and 37,000 deaths in US. Millions of people are unemployed, millions of others are being denied of healthcare while the corporate elites are getting bailed out with our tax money. In fact, everyone outside that 1% is being denied.
In a recent interview Social Capital CEO Chamath Palihapitiya emphasizes that we should let billionaires get wiped out. The irony is that CNBC anchor surprisingly asks “Isn't it immoral to let billionaires get wiped out, no one deserves to get wiped out?” In response Chamath Palihapitiya says “Who cares? Let them get wiped out. They don't get to summer in the Hamptons? Who cares?” The corporate media believes that the billionaires don’t deserve to get wiped outwhile Main Street is dying and more than 7 million people are filing for unemployment every week.
Noam Chomsky — 'People not only don't know what's happening to them, they don't even know that they don't know.
The elites have dismantled the very fabric of our society and have gained obscene wealth on the back of working men and women in our country who are unemployed or underemployed. They have sent American manufacturing jobs to overseas and have crushed America’s small businesses through monopoly and have further consolidated their wealth and power.
While Trump promotes the idea of “Buy American, Hire America”, his nepotism daughter Ivanka makes her shoes and clothing line in sweat shop factories of China where most of the labors are being subjected to long hours, low pay and abuse.
While Trump and his family are building a Criminal Enterprise at the expense of the American taxpayers, we should not forget how the Democratic Party under Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama have done their fair share to empower corporate elites, Wall Street gangs and hedge fund managers instead of working men and women of America. The democrats once representing the working class families in America have betrayed all that they claim to hold dear. During the Primaries, the power structures of DNC wrote off Bernie Sanders once again, just like they did in 2016.
They have destroyed our society and shattered our souls by a predatory capitalistic system that devours everything along its path and if we dare to hope for a better future for our children and our planet we must build mass movements, fight back and wrest the power from the corporate elites.
